Founded by Neil Crossling BVMS MRCVS in 1999, Morven Veterinary Practice provides a comprehensive range of veterinary services for pets, horses and farm animals in Aberdeenshire. We are a truly independent mixed practice, with our main practice in Alford and and a branch practice in Ballater.

At Morven Vets we believe that continuity of care is vital for our patients well-being. This is why we provide our own out of hours emergency service at our main branch in Alford.

    We provide this through helping reduce disease impact, routine health planning, fertility work, preventative medicines, routine surgeries and emergency care.


    We pride ourselves on fair, straightforward, upfront and honest pricing. We prefer to charge on a fair hourly rate, rewarding efficienct setups.

  • Health Planning

    Time and effort focused towards the long-term health of your herd or flock is invaluable. 


    We make use of your annual health planning meeting in combination with our local understanding of your farm and needs to save you time and money by reducing disease incidence, reducing treatment costs and improving the productivity of your livestock. 


    We can also help work with your Cattle Health Certification Standards (CHeCS) accredited health scheme provider to help ensure you get the best prices for your livestock as well as a healthier more productive herd or flock.

  • Fertility Services

    We offer routine and reliable pregnancy diagnosis both manual or with ultrasound. 


    Fully eqiuipped with electroejaculation for bull and fertility assessment. This, prior to the breeding season combined with early pregnancy diagnosis can help to avoid economic losses and improve the efficiency of your farm - we offer all of these services on farm at your convenience. 


    Pelvic measuring and prebreeding assessment to  in heifers 


    Calvings or emergency caesareans when needed by one of our experienced vets. 


    Working in conjunction with your semen or embryo transfer provider we can provide synchronisation programmes for cattle and sheep. 

  • Medicines

    We hold a wide range of farm animal medicines in our Alford practice and can provide further doses of medicines and vaccines with next working day availability.


    We are independently owned and do not have restrictions on what we stock. When you need stock of a particular item, we will do our upmost to find it for you.


    With 48hrs notice we can also have medications and vaccines available for collection from our Ballater clinic. 

  • Additional Services

    In house lab work including faecal egg counts and biochemistry. Plus external lab work in conjunction with the SAC lab  at Craibstone.

    Export of livestock.
